A brand new day, a brand new start
A moment of weakness can persuade our heart to turn from truth. It only takes a moment to shift our gaze from God, and we are lured from the path of light to a path of darkness. It happens, we are human, we are born into sin – we battle it daily. But the beautiful reality of God is that even in the midst of failing Him, He stands there with arms stretched wide, waiting for us to turn back and run to Him. The enemy of our soul knows this truth. He knows that once he gets our eyes off of God it isn’t over yet – that there is still opportunity for us to turn back to the gracious arms of our Heavenly Father. In achnowledgement of this reality, he works in persuasion to take us deeper and deeper into our sin keeping us occupied not wanting us to realize the Lord is still there and the path to light is still within reach.
The enemy is good at what he does, he has studied us and knows our weakness, but he is NO match for the God of the universe. In those instances of weakness, we make mistakes, we choose wrong and we look back and realize we have gone down the wrong path. We turn and run to those outstretched arms, and the enemy turns around right along with us and the chase is on. He doesn’t allow us to go back without a fight. When we turn back to follow Jesus, we become a threat to his devious plan. He realizes the power you possess if you successfully reconnect with your Savior. He realizes that your testimony is stronger. He realizes that your faith is renewed. He knows your potential and the power God wants to bestow upon you to work in His kingdom. He knows it, so in response to your running to the Master’s arms he tells you, you aren’t worthy. He tells you – you aren’t good enough. He piles on the shame of your wrong doing. And all of this creates an angst and heaviness that stops you from lifting your hands and stops you from singing God’s praises, and stops you from dancing a dance to rejoice. But he is the father of all lies.
John 8:44
…He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
When he says you are not worthy – realize that you are worthy. When he says you aren’t good enough- realize that you are good enough. When he piles on the shame – realize that there is no shame in Christ. He makes ALL things NEW. In the presence of God, there is hope, forgiveness, and limitless love.
If you find yourself in this situation – if you have left the path God intended, and desire to turn back…DO IT! Do it in confidence, do it in boldness, do it in celebration of the goodness in the God we serve. Do it with your head held high. Throw your hands in the air in surrender. Dance in celebration of the One who saves!
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Today is a brand new day with a decision to make…Choose Him.
