He is a buckler

Psalms 18:30

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Is it just me…or do you read that verse and experience a substantial swell in confidence? Does it energize you in a way that makes you feel as though you could run a marathon and not be out of breath? Does it make a smile spread wide across your face in boldness knowing that our God is perfect, and every word he has spoken has been tried, and that he is the protector of those that trust him? This verse is empowering, and arouses something in my spirit that screams loudly – ‘I TRUST YOU LORD.’

It draws my mind to the lives we read about in his word and tells me:

Just like he was faithful to his promise to Abraham – God will be faithful to us.

Just like he made a way for the Israelites to cross the Red Sea – he will make a way for us.

Just like he mended the relationship between Jacob and Esau – he’s waiting to put ours back together the same.

Just like he showed Gideon how the battle was going to be won – he will show the same for us.

Just like he made the impossible possible for Sarah – he is ready to do that for us.

Just like he saw more in the life of Saul – he sees more in the life of us.

Just like he didn’t give up when David fell – he hasn’t given up on us.

God has packed his word full examples of people that struggled with the same things we struggle with and those that were seeking the same answers that we seek. He did this purposely to serve as proof that God loves us, and what he says is true.

Let these words build your confidence and boost your faith in the One who saves.

God is perfect. His word is true. He is a buckler to those that trust him.

If you find yourself unsure or doubting his word, I encourage you to open your Bible and seek truth out for yourself today. Ask God to open your eyes to his perfect way, and reveal to you that his word is tried, and true. I promise you, he will hear your prayer and respond.

As you go about your day, remember God’s word- acknowledge he is doing his part and make up your mind to do yours, trust him – Choose him.
