And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve;
God chose to wake us up this morning. He chose to put breath in our lungs. He chose to bring us a new day, and in this new day, He has given us a decision to make…to ‘choose you this day whom ye shall serve.’ God is a gentleman, He doesn’t force himself on anyone, instead He has given us free will to decide on our own, the path we will take.
I realize some days are harder than others to make that choice. Some days our bodies are weary, our minds are stressed, and we are overwhelmed with hopelessness. Yet God in His all knowing ability responds to us with the words of Matthew 11:28:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
This morning as you pull your tired body from that comfortable bed, and you shuffle those feet to the coffee pot, make up in your mind to do as He has asked- come to Him, and allow Him to give you rest.
This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Make up your mind to choose Him over your circumstances. Shift your eyes to Him. Acknowledge that this is the day that He has made. Rejoice. Be glad in it, and when you do, you’ll realize that all the weariness, stress and hopelessness seemingly melts away by the power of the Almighty…Choose Him.
