Prayerful Parenting – Day 12
Humble defined by the Urban Dictionary says is is– ‘an admirable quality that not many people possess. It means that a person may have accomplished a lot or be a lot but doesn’t feel it is necessary to advertise or brag about it.’
I like this definition – not because I’m a humble person, it’s something I can struggle with just the same as most others. It’s easy to NOT be humble, something good happens and BAM! we want to proclaim it for all to see. However, looking at God’s word, and looking at the definition of what humble means shows us that those temptations to boast and brag are not godly traits. It isn’t our job to lift ourselves up and declare to the world our own greatness or accomplishments. Doing so may get us a few likes and a few pats on the back, but waiting on God to do the lifting will lead to something far great which will, in the end not only give us ‘glory’, but ultimately, Him.
Today, let our prayer be these words in 1 Peter 5:6. Let us pray together that God help our students as they prepare to go back to school to have a humble heart and spirit. That they would not seek the praise of their peers, but they would be humbly submitted to their Heavenly Father seeking his applause, and his alone.
