Prayerful Send off – Day 15 – Off They Go
Today marks the last day of our prayerful sendoff to Back-to-School 2018. While our prayers here may be ending, our prayers for these precious students cannot.
One of my favorite old Church songs to sing contains a line that says, ‘This world is not my home I’m just a passing through,’ In John 17:14, we find Jesus praying – in his prayer he states, ‘we are in this world but not of this world.’ Drawing my mind to that catchy old song singing of our hope giving promise of Eternity spent with Jesus.
Romans 12:2 gives us a little more instruction for our ‘passing through’ as it says:
‘Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.’
These words are a difficult task when we attempt to work them alone. It is by no mistake that this verse goes on and instructs us to let God transform us. We cannot do it alone.
Our prayer today as we send these kiddo’s back to school is that they will allow God to perform this transformation by seeking him, reading his word, and focusing on becoming who he has called them to be. As they step into the crowds of their peers, may God align them with Godly friends that will encourage them and push them on in their walk of faith NOT being to the world around them, but clinging to their Sovereign King.
