A long wait, and a Christmas promise
Isaiah 9:6, ““For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
These words are overwhelming to me. A prophetic gift handed out 700(ish) years before Jesus Birth. Can you imagine holding onto a promise for that long?
Sometimes, I can’t seem to wait 5 minutes, let alone generations…but God’s timing is perfect whether we feel it or not.
Stepping back at Christmas time and reflecting on these beautiful prophetic words is one of my favorite things to do…
The imagery that it paints… “and the government shall rest on his shoulders”…
The comfort, “He shall be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
The hope it offers – it is astounding.
700 years from their utterance to their fruition – was worth the wait.
I wonder today, if God has given you a word, and there you sit waiting. If that’s you, I encourage you to look at this promise and God’s working of it all. His ways are not sure to us. His timing is not sure to us, but his promise is certain. If He has said it, He will do it. Join me today, Choose Him.
